Post 59 foot 2003 564 popularity? Issues

We are currently enjoying a 2006 Searay 44 DB Sedan Bridge. We are spending much more time aboard than in the past and are considering moving up to a 55 to 60 foot aft cabin yacht for enhanced comfort. We really like the idea of the hard top with hard enclosure as is offered on the 564, to avoid the inevitable issues with aging vinyl and zippers ect. We are a bit surprised that there are so few manufacturers that offer the hard top with the hard enclosure. I'm assuming that it has to do with the ...

Post Barrier Coatings are they it worth it?

HI all,

This past weekend I moved Escape Plan 40 miles downriver to get her pulled out onto the hard and get her bottom paint redone. When I bought her just over two years ago and had her surveyed we noticed a handful of blisters but nothing major that would cause concern. She was pulled yesterday and they started removing the old bottom paint. Well, they found some old blisters that weren't properly repaired in the past. The slurry blast was actually popping some of the old repairs off and ...

Post Hello from Hudson Valley

Hi my name is Larry.

Sailed and enjoyed it but now it’s just WORK! Not to mention I pinched my wife’s finger with a halyard line. There went the sailboat.

We were talking about motorboat for a long time and actually figured when my daughter’s schooling was done we could get another boat. As soon as we got notice my daughter was graduating I said to my wife, I’d like to get a boat. To my surprise her response was sure we could actually call it “ no more to tuition”.

Of course as soon as we got to ...

Post Was: Deck Core Thickness? NOW: Deck Replacement

I've tried searching but couldn't come up with an answer: What is the Balsa Core thickness that was used on the decks of an 80's Carver Mariner (3697)?

I emailed Carver but they are yet to answer me so I'm hoping one of you might know either from experience or by coming across someone else who needs to make a soft deck repair. I want to order all components and have everything on hand prior to cutting the deck open which includes the correct core material.

Thanks!

Ben in SC

Post battery tender during storage

I have a bank of4 batteries and want to purchase a "4 bank" battery tender to keep the batt's charged during the winter. Each bank has a separate hook up so they are all independent. The question is if the batts are all connected to each other in the bilge, does that affect charging the batts with the tender?

Post Nevada Newbie

Hi Gang, I have been looking for a midsize cruiser for several years, I want to keep it up at Lake Tahoe during the summers. and probably drydock it in my yard during the winters. I really like the Carver Santego 3467. I would appreciate any info regarding recurring issues with this model, general maintenance tips etc. I am also wondering whether or not you all think this is a trailerable boat, I plan on trailering it to and from Tahoe, a distance of about 60-80 miles, at the beginning and end o ...
